Most of us know chamomile as a weed grown many miles away, ground into oblivion, and stuck in an opaque tea bag — without ever recognizing that it's a beautiful plant with a variety of uses. This grow kit will make fresh, non-GMO chamomile for you in your own kitchen. Having green, growing things around us makes us more connected to the things we eat and drink, and encourages us to think about where and how things are grown elsewhere in our diets.

Chamomile Bamboo Grow Kit: white bamboo pot, non-GMO chamomile seeds, coconut pith and perlite growing medium, plastic tray, wick, activated carbon, plant food, instructional manual.

8 oz Ceramic Mug, removable ceramic strainer, and ceramic lid that doubles as a coaster for the strainer.

Comes in paper and cardboard box, which can be recycled.

All components that remain once the chamomile has grown can be reused—add the bamboo pot and the ceramic cup and lid to your kitchen supplies, and use the plastic tray to grow new seeds.

Product includes detailed instruction manual—just remember to be gentle, as this is a living thing!

* How long does it take to grow? Chamomile seeds take 12-21 days to sprout, and will be ready to start harvesting in 2+ months. Continuous harvesting will encourage a bushy plant and greater yield.

* How long will it last?  A chamomile plant will continue to grow for many months with sufficient nutrients and light.

* How much sun does it need? Flowers require at least 6 hours of direct light daily, and should be put in an unobstructed window that faces south, west or east (southwest is the best option). During winter months — or if you don’t have an unobstructed window — you can supplement with a grow light.

* Can I put it outside? Grow Kits are designed for indoor use, but can be put outside. Be mindful that the planter does not have a drain hole, and if the reservoir floods it may drown the roots. Bring your Grow Kit inside if temps dip below 55⁰ or above 80⁰.

* How can this be reused? The plastic pot and recycled glass grow medium can both be reused — simply rinse with hot water. Add new seeds and use soil or coco pith to help seeds germinate. Use a water soluble fertilizer and follow its instructions.
