The Casa Agave™ brush is an essential tool to help spread block dish soap and an easy replacement for plastic cleaning brushes in the kitchen. With a sustainably-sourced white teakwood handle and medium-weight agave fiber bristles, it is ideal for brushing off vegetables or scrubbing dishes.

This all-purpose hand brush replaces plastic based dish brushes and sponges, which shed tiny pieces of plastic pieces called microplastics. These are not not fully filtered out by sewage systems and enter into our rivers and oceans. These microplastics re-enter the food chain when marine animals consume them—when we eat those animals, or even drink tap water, microplastics enter our body, too.

The wood handle is made of white teakwood, a very fast-growing, bamboo-like wood considered in some places to be a weed because of how quickly it grows. The agave fiber bristles are grown, harvested, sun-dried, and processed in Mexico with traditional techniques to produce a high-quality and strong natural fiber.

White teakwood (handle), agave fiber bristles.
No product packaging; for safe transit, we wrap the brush in paper or reused filler material.

Each brush is designed to be used for 1-3 months. Make sure to keep the wood dry; do not soak the handle in water to prevent cracks from forming. If you find your brush is not staying dry, dip the bristles in vinegar occasionally to help kill bacteria. The white teakwood is naturally antibacterial but the vinegar will help too.

You can oil your brushes to reduce the potential cracking if you regularly submerge your brush in water. Hang to dry after use and store in a dry place. Do not rest the brush on top of your solid dish soap between uses.

Once the bristles are worn out and the brush is no longer usable, the wood and agave fiber parts can be composted or buried in your garden.
